Anthony Morris

Anthony Morris served as principal auxiliary and has toured internationally with The New York Philharmonic from 1999 to 2006 under the batons of Kurt Masur and Lorin Maazel. When he is not playing with The New York Philharmonic, he worked on Broadway shows such as Beauty and the Beast and Phantom of the Opera. Currently, Morris has been subbing with The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) since 2008. Along with his schedule with the NJSO, Morris performs and records with many other ensembles, including The Harlem Chamber Players, Metro Chamber Orchestra, and the Association of Dominican Classical Artists, to name a few.
Mr. Morris has been Professor of Classical Double Bass studies at Brooklyn College since 2002, and he also taught at other various places, including InterSchool Orchestras of New York and the Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts in East Orange, NJ. Morris holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts from Manhattan School of Music and a Master of Musical Arts from The Juilliard School of Music. He has studied with internationally renowned musicians such as Eugene Levinson, Paul Ellison and Bruce Bransby.
