Eric Malson

Eric Malson is an active soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician whose activities have taken him throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. As soloist, he has appeared with the Orquestra da Fundação Gulbenkian, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, North Carolina Symphony, Columbus Symphony (Ohio), Oak Ridge Symphony, and Prince William Symphony orchestras. Festival appearances include the Ravinia Festival, Tanglewood, Norfolk (Conn.), Wexford (Ireland), Caramoor (N.Y.), Scotia (Halifax), Chautauqua, Castleton, Évora (Portugal), Semana Grande de Santander (Spain), Verso il Millennio (Riva del Garda, Italy), and Mt. Angel (Oregon) Bach festivals. He has appeared in concert with members of the Hagen, Vogler, Alexander, Lark, Cavani, and Ciompi quartets, New York Philharmonic tubist Alan Baer, and trombonist Alain Trudel.
Mr. Malson's work with singers includes concert appearances with Deborah Voigt, Lawrence Brownlee, Alfred Walker, Eva Urbanová, Laurent Naouri and Chistophoren Nomura, and has served on the musical staff of the Teatro Nacional São Carlos (Lisbon), Bühnen der Stadt Köln, Seattle Opera (Wagner’s Ring cycle), Washington Opera at Kennedy Center, Opera Zuid (Netherlands), and The Dallas Opera. He has served on the faculties of the Juilliard School, Mannes College of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Academia Nacional de Orquestra (Portugal), and the Escola Superior de Musica de Lisboa, and as as official accompanist for the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition, Carnegie Hall International American Music Competition, William Primrose International Viola Competition, and the Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions. He has recorded for the Sony and Lyrichord labels, where his recording of the Brahms Magelone songs with tenor Paul Mow was released to critical acclaim.
